Project Life - September 2012

Here is the latest that I have done in the Project Life Album.
September and October have been busy months, but I have September done up until the 19th. The pictures are printed, but this weekend at the retreat, I figured I had other things I needed to focus on.  Project Life is so EASY to keep up to date, that I can take a couple hours on the weekend and get caught up.  What scrapbooker can tell you that they can take that little time to BE CAUGHT UP?
LOVE Project Life!

So there you have it! September 20th is the end date for now.  Next week I will finish off September, including our Family Vacation to Destin Florida!

Until Next Time,
SCRAP ON!

Project Life Update - July to August 2012

It has been a while, but I am back with an update for Project Life!

During the summer, I slacked off and let the project slide a little.  Sure, I missed some days, but I was able to make up for it because I had extra photos that I took that needed those spots. So it all worked out for the best anyway.

Now onto the update: (forgive the photos, the DSLR is packed for Skyline)

I started using the Design G pack and I LOVE IT!!!  I can add 2 vertical and 2 horizontal pictures to the page.  It is perfect for how I take my photos.  :)

I hope you have enjoyed looking at the pics and how I have done stuff.  It is really working out for me this time around!  Last year, I started out and it took me 3 months to fail!  This time around, I have been doing SO WELL!!!

Let me know how you are doing with your Project Life Album!

Until Next Time,

SCRAP ON!

Long Awaited Project Life Update

I finally took pictures of June's Project Life pages that I did last month.  I know, it has taken me forever to do this update, but it is FINALLY done!  Now, this is an "image filled" post, so you've been warned!  I also have a really cool idea to share with you after the completed pages! Here are the pages:
June 4-10, 2012

June 11-14, 2012

June 15-20, 2012

June 21-23, 2012

June 24-30, 2012

If you are still with me, thanks for staying with me.  Now, last month was a busy one for us and I didn't feel up to going through my photos, editing and uploading them all to be printed.

So, I took out my daytimer with all my daily notes in it, pulled out all the journaling cards and started working on the journaling for the month.  Take a look:

Why not get a bunch of journaling done all at once and then, all you have to do is print all the photos at the same time and slide them into the album?  It really makes it easy to handle and it also helps with remembering the details from each day if you can do it closer to the actual day.
I love that Project Life is so easy to keep up with when you're busy.
If you have NEVER heard of Project Life, go here to check it out....

Now, I have a workout to get to over at LA Fitness....more on that on another day!  :)

Until Next Time,
SCRAP ON!

Project Life Update - 5-14-12 to 6-3-12

It has been a while since I updated this album, but it literally took me about 45 minutes to put these 3 weeks together!  That is one of the benefits of PROJECT LIFE!  Gotta love it!
I am also working on a bunch of other albums.
The Week of May 14-20 2012:
We had a lot going on at the house and at school.  It was the second last week of school, so I was at the school several times that week.  The Book Fair was at the school and then Nathan's grade had field day on Friday.  It was also the week that Nathan finally learned how to ride his bicycle (without training wheels).  We had to buy him a bike that fit before he could REALLY learn.
Poor kid grows and grows and grows...kills me.
We really need to stop feeding him!  ;)  HA!
I also bought us some Summer Passes to the kids movies at the theatre here.  Each week, the theatre plays 1 movie on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9:30am.  I figured it was a good idea.
The passes were only $5 per person and if we went to 3 movies this summer, it would pay for itself.
The plan right now is to go weekly and enjoy the movie that is playing whether we have seen it or not!
The Week of May 21-27, 2012:
Nathan's grade level Awards Ceremony was Tuesday,
he got the Perfect Attendance award for the entire year.
I also took the end-of-year photos of each of the kids with Ms. Sarratt and then a class photo.
I was at the school every day helping out.
I went to the mailbox after school one morning and found a surprise from one of my Blog Followers, S.
She sent me her stickers from her Project Life core kit because she wasn't using them!  Sweet eh?
Thank you S!!!
Friday was the last day of school and I am really sad because Ms. Sarratt won't be there next year.
She was an awesome teacher for Nathan.
She bought me a pot of flowers as a Thank-You for all my work as the room mom this year.
It was a nice little party we had for the kids.
Then, I ended up getting sick!!!!
I spent the majority of the Memorial Day Weekend, in my bed napping and trying to get my energy back.
It was B.A.D!!!
The Week of May 28-June 3, 2012:
Memorial Day, we spent around the house and just enjoyed the time off.
Ben's game - Diable III - finally was released May 15th, so he spent some time playing.
We went up to visit with Marta and go swimming in her pool.
Sophie finally likes the pool and has stopped crying and Nathan is still a fish!
We went to see RIO at the theatre this week and it was Sophie's first movie at the theatre.
You should have seen her face!  Her mouth dropped open when the lights went down and the movie came on!  PRICELESS!!!!
The beginning of June = JOINING THE GYM!  I did it and took two classes on the 1st.
It feels pretty good to be back exercising!
I didn't realize that I had missed it! (Pretty twisted that I missed it eh?)
Saturday, Daddy had to work again, so I took the kids to Home Depot to attend one of their workshops.
They both loved hammering in the nails and painting the object that they made for Daddy.
The last picture is of Nathan.  He drove his bicycle into a mailbox in the neighbourhood on Saturday and I wanted a picture of it.  It looked really bad when it first happened.  It looked a lot better Sunday.
*************
There you have it!  An update and lots of pictures to look at!
In the coming weeks, we will be on vacation, so I will have more pics the last week of June or the first week of July.  Should be a ton of fun over the next few weeks with lots planned.
Until Next Time,
SCRAP ON!

Happy Mail!!! A Gratitude Entry.....

I went to the mailbox earlier this week and found an envelope addressed to me!
It wasn't a BILL..
It wasn't Junk Mail.
It was AWESOME!!!!

It was a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) from a follower of my blog.
S reads my blog and I have a link to her blog right here.  She commented last week on my Project Life post that she doesn't use her ARROWS and other STICKERS that came in her Clementine Project Life Kit.  She asked me if I would like them.
I said I would love them because I use mine with every week....
VOILA!
Here they are!!!
How awesome is this?!?!?!  It made me GRIN!!!
It isn't very often that I am the recipient of a RAK.
I appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness S!
It was so nice to get a HAPPY letter in the mail instead of the usual bills and junk!
Thank you S!  You made my day!!
Until Next Time,
SCRAP ON!

Project Life Update....

I decided to update the Project Life album before I started with the layouts I wanted to create for the Feeling Scrappy Sketchapalooza 7 class.  I am really happy with the way this album is turning out.  The best thing is that on the days that I don't get a good picture or forget to take one at all, I can put in a few pictures for a particular day and tell the story a little better.  An example would be the re-vamp of my Scrap Loft.  I want to be able to tell that story and show off my space.  I did take pictures for that week but some didn't turn out the way I would have liked and some were blurry. So, instead I put in the pictures from when I was moving around my scrap area and organizing.
I am one of those nerds that likes to organize things and I get a rush when it is all done and looks awesome!  I am all smiles, baby!
So, here are the pages that I have completed since my last update - April 23 2012 until May 15 2012:
I blurred out the pictures because they are for the upcoming Sketchapalooza 7 class in June.

I am not sure how you work from your Core Kit, but I decided to take the journaling cards out of their storage boxes and just have them ready to go in the large box.  It works best for me when I am working.  Here is how I have my cards laid out.  Also, I bought an extra set of 3x4 Grid Journaling Cards.  They are in here as well.
According to Becky Higgins, the core kits are now going to be made in the USA.  Very cool!  Now, the other thing, that I am not too happy about, is they will not have stickers in the core kits.  I use my ARROW stickers so much and I am bummed about the fact that they won't be in the Core Kit anymore.  But, I am looking for other options for arrows to use in the album.  I think they are looking for other options, but they will be bought as a separate item. I am not sure I will like that because it will cost more to get the entire kit.  If this is going to be a yearly thing, I have to make sure that it will fit in the budget.  Last year, the Project Life Kits were all one big package with one price.  This year, everything is separate:  Core Kit, Cardstock, Page Protectors, 3x4 Grid Journaling Cards, Memorabilia Envelopes and Dividers are all a separate item to be purchased.  Will be hard to justify in the budget.  We'll see though because once Ben sees the project put together and done, he will more than likely be cool with it.  I could always ask my inlaws and parents for the individual pieces for birthdays and Christmas!  ;)
Anyway, that is my Project Life update for this week.  Once again I am CAUGHT UP!  How weird does that ever feel to say that!!!  Something I thought I would NEVER hear myself say in a million years!
I hope you enjoy these updates because I really enjoy sharing them with you!
Until Next Time,
SCRAP ON!

As Promised.....Photo Ideas for Project Lifers....

Now, we all can take photos of our children, pets and other family members.  Heck, we can all take pictures of the places we visit and even the mundane tasks we do day-to-day.  How many times can we really take a photo of our laundry room because we are doing laundry for the umpteenth time that week?!?!  I mean, how many photos can you have of THIS in your scrapbooks?  I mean, really!?!?!?!
What about those days that you completely forgot the camera or the photo that you took with your iPhone is blurry and unusable?  Last year, I took some photos of the signs of places that I frequent: Walmart, Aldi, Publix, Kroger, CVS, Target, Books A Million, just so that I could have a "FILLER" photo when I didn't get the right shot that I wanted to get for that day.  I mentioned in a previous post that I keep my agenda in my purse at all times and keep a little note of what we do on a daily basis.  This allows for a "mind-jog" when I don't get to printing my pictures the week I take them.  I may also reference my blog in my agenda as well so that I can look at the stuff I mention right here.  It helps with journaling too.
Here are some ideas off the top of my head:

  • gas prices
  • milk prices
  • favourite clothes
  • favourite bath soaps
  • favourite colour
  • the book you are currently reading
  • the music on your iPod
  • the craft project you are working on
  • your car (especially if you are a commuter)
  • the text you got from a friend
  • the calorie counter on your iPhone
  • vacuum
  • new shoes
  • your laptop/computer on your favourite website
  • your desk when you are paying bills
  • coupon binder
  • a tree or bush you just planted
  • your garden
  • your odometer
  • the temperature gauge
  • your favourite television show
  • your friend making a face at you
  • your bedroom or a favourite spot in your house
Back to the FILLER PHOTOS and other ideas for photos:
So, I went on a little scavenger hunt online to see where I could find lists of things to photograph when you need a "Filler" or forget to take a photo.  Get ready, because I have found a bunch of places that I will be linking to so that you can bookmark for when you have one of those forgetful days:
Google Images - just type in the search box for images that you need.  They *may* have it!  Click on the image you want and it will open in a window.  Right click and "Save as".
Project Life Photography Themes - a blog called Scrapbooker's Inner Circle is what I found while on Pinterest.  That Pinterest is a fabulous resource!!!  She does a weekly Theme to photograph.  Pretty cool!
Joy's Hope - Julie is the owner of this awesome blog and she does a monthly Photo Challenge.  She posts it early in the month so that you can follow along and use the photo ideas she already has laid out for you. Here is her list for April:
I think it is a pretty awesome blog to follow AND the cool thing is that she is a Christ Follower too!  Pretty awesome!
Pinterest - a great place for ideas, photos, links.  A great "GO TO" for every crafty person.
Fat Mum Slim - Chantelle, in Australia, posts a monthly photo-a-day challenge.
I hope that this blog post has helped you to figure out where to get photos as fillers or just day-to-day photo ideas.  I tried Project Life last year and only lasted until the middle of March.  This year, I am actually doing it!  Woot!  Woot!  Now, get out there and take some photos already!!
Until Next Time,
SCRAP ON!
